What this Oil Painting “TOKIGAWA no FUKEI ( Landscape of the Toki River )” shows us

 This oil painting is an irreplaceable treasure for IKEDA MACHIYA, depicting in an integrated way the natural and economic environment surrounding this area from the late MEIJI period to the early SHOWA period. For that reason, protecting this painting, organizing the history of IKEDA MACHIYA shown within it, and passing that history on are an important mission of IKEDA MACHIYA Community Center ( General Incorporated Foundation ).

【油彩画『土岐川の風景』の意味する処】
この油彩画は、明治末期から昭和初期に至るまでの、池田町屋を取り巻く自然環境、経済環境が総合的に描き込まれた、池田町屋にとって(今となっては)唯一無二とも言える宝である。故に、この絵画を守り、ここに描き込まれた池田町屋の歴史を整理し、語り継ぐ事が「公民館」の重要な使命である。
